My fellow kingdomographers, you have an assignment.  Start looking for good kingdomography -- ministry writing that matches this WISH list:
  • Well done
  • Impactful
  • Shareable
  • Honest

So many great God stories from individuals fill my social media feeds, but I see little to inspire or encourage me from official sources.  Churches and mission agencies do produce content, but a lot of it is unshareable.  Why?

They're writing for donors.  So much of ministry communication is internally-focused, written in an attempt to get people to give -- to them and only them.  Ironically, that approach shrinks their potential audience. Ministries need a larger audience in order to get more donors and raise more funds.  But by writing for people who already "get them," they make themselves inaccessible to a broader audience.  Their content is usually stories of completed projects, rather than portraits of changed lives or the discussion of big ideas.  Ministries turn social spaces into mere billboards, when the same spaces could be a digital Mars Hill.

So here's what we can do together.  I'll post tips I've learned in 20 years of ministry communication to help us all tell better stories.  And I'll find out which organizations and churches are collaborating well so we can follow their lead.  You tell me about any great stories matching the WISH List and I'll boost them here.  We need to hear what God's doing through all of us, not just our own organization.

Let's get out of our cubicles and get to know one another.  Here we go!
